Key IB Due Dates

All schools are required by the IB to create internal due dates for internal and external assessments that are to be submitted to the IB. As a result, the following internal due dates have been established and represent the final date that an IB assessment can be provided for submission to the IB. All dates are subject to change; however, changes will generally only be moved to later in the year, not earlier.

Please be sure to note the “other important dates” section at the bottom of the chart.

Unless indicated, the dates provided are for the submission of final copies. If for some reason a student does not complete a draft they will be subject to the same late assessment expectations as any other summative assessment, including the final copy of the assessment. Drafts of summative assessments are crucial to student success and students will be held to account if they are not submitted. Please see the assessment policy on the school website for the procedures regarding late summative assessments.

Cases of academic malpractice on assessments are taken very seriously at GWA. Depending on the situation, an assessment meant for the IB may not be submitted which is likely to put a student’s Diploma at risk. All cases of academic malpractice on assessments will be escalated to the Secondary School administration where appropriate support or disciplinary measures will be addressed.

We recognize that the Diploma Programme is a rigorous curriculum and we are here to encourage, support, and remind all students of the due dates they need to meet.

Regarding the IA/EA designations on the due dates document:

  • An IA is an Internal Assessment that is graded by the teacher after which all the course grades are submitted to the IB. Upon submission of grades, the IB will request a sample of selected students’ work to be sent to the IB for moderation.

  • The EA designation represents External Assessments that are completed prior to World Exams all of which will be sent to the IB for grading. Teachers do not submit suggested grades and, unlike the IAs, all of the students in a course have their work submitted for grading.
